On a run 10 years ago - during a Vermont winter with little snow - I decided to change my life - to turn my experiences as a business consultant and writer towards protecting the environment.
I’ve worked as a Senior Fellow for the Conservation Law Foundation, written award-winning environmental columns for The Guardian, and direct the nation’s leading environmental writers’ conference for Middlebury College. I want to open up conversations about our natural world, and welcome as many people into that conversation as possible.
As a professor of environmental writing and the author of several books and articles for outlets like The New Yorker and The Atlantic, I understand the fundamentals of good storytelling, and am passionate about getting to the heart of the narrative, especially for companies trying to do some good in the world.

Back in October 2009, standing in line to see President Barack Obama speak at MIT about his new administration’s climate policies, I was full of optimism that we were finally on track to aggressively address climate change.
That didn’t quite happen, but I’m still full of optimism.
As our government lurches forward in fits and starts, businesses and organizations are taking a much bigger role. I’ve been privileged to partner with many of these climate innovators in both my leadership positions at LaunchSquad and Schwartz Communications and as an advisor and mentor. Over the years I’ve helped harness the power of storytelling firsthand, leading countless interview sessions and research efforts, distilling loads of information into stories that pop. My storytelling work spans across many sectors, ranging from technology to consumer to NGOs.
With GreenStory, we are deploying what I like to call the pollinator effect — assisting as many companies as possible, as quickly as possible, with their storytelling in order to accelerate their growth. At my core I’m a climate advocate; GreenStory is the best way for me to help protect the planet.
